It's amazing when you work somewhere when you realize that the three layers of your management have combined for a perfect storm of evil/incompetence. Yes, there is now a movement to mess up the restaurant slowly.
What's odd about it is that people have just started doing things wrong without any direction from anyone. I'm pretty much the designated rabble rouser at work, and I've found out that at least five people are deliberately doing things to cost the restaurant money. They're not organized or anything, just pissed. It's kind of like partisan rabble annoying the Nazi's in France. Not direct confrontations, but death by food cost.
Yes, we've decided to call in our own customer satisfaction surveys and give ourselves bad scores. We waste food. We're deliberately going to throw our corporate inspection. I don't eat there anymore, and I don't recommend that anyone else do it either.
This is what happens when you try to run your restaurant using the Stalin-Hitler management plan. Random punishments doled out for following instructions correctly. Threats to cut wages, with the caveat that they're going to try to do it anyway. Yell for no reason. Never admit you're wrong. Demand absolute obedience to the rules, yet don't follow them yourself.
The one bright spot is that I now have a greater appreciation for Sweeney Todd. I always wondered why he got so gleeful by the middle of the musical, and now I know. He had found a purpose. It's a dark purpose, but life lived purposefully is kind of joyous.
Ahhhh, the memories this brings back. I will never again work for large corporations after now finding work with a small company. At Fred Meyer they originally gave us 17" flat screen monitors, then took them all back and gave us old used 15" CRT monitors. At my new job, the owner was saying today that he's going to look into getting new computers for my co-worker and I and we've only been there for 2 weeks now.

Well, now i'm beyond envious. I was told three years ago that we might be getting new computers. Pretty soon they'll hav us using clay tablets with an official stylus. The cost of which wil be deducted from our pay checks.
