November is National Novel Writer's Month. I'm going to try it again this year after writing one awful novel (2005) and not finishing an awful novel last year. This year, I'm going with a melange of things I know well. Fantasy Fiction (swords and sorcery, not BDSM you pervs) with a distinctive sarcastic flair. I think I can be snarky about something I love for 50k words. At least until Thanksgiving, which is usually where the whole thing comes tumbling down.

I'm still planning on writing some short little blog posts about historical things that interest me. This isn't really anything more than me coalescing my thoughts and seeing how much I know, and if it's more than I think I know. I know I can write 'I' and 'know' repeatedly at this point. Take that, haters!
Fencing wise, I'm tired. It's going to be a long, but hopefully rewarding season. I'm definitely only going to nationals for the actual competition this year, since San Jose isn't high on my list of places I need to see. I'm not even sure there is anything to see there. Which is fine. Fencing is serious business, or it should be in small doses.
Football wise, the Packers are doing better than pretty much anyone would have thought, and the general fans don't know what to think of it. Yes, the team has flaws, but they are talented enough to overcome most of them. They're not as good as NE or Indy (go Colts!), and I think Dallas will beat them about 75% of the time, but other than that they can definitely beat anyone. On the flip side, I can really see them losing to anyone on any given week. Which makes it a fun team to watch. Not that it stops me from watching when they're not fun, but when it comes to sports I'm an optimist.
Work is, as the saying goes, what it is. I'm thinking that my dream job would be something customer service related, but maybe more along the lines of a specialized service where people need or really want something from you, so they're a little more inclined to be polite and, well, communicate. Plus, I'm getting really sick of questions like "Is the replacement you're sending me going to work?" "In fact, no. Since I love talking to grumpy people like you, and they're so hard to find, I'm going to make sure I send you something that will not work. Because I can't imagine life without our next conversation. I don't know how to quit you." Yeah, there is a rant coming up about people in general.
So, that's the stuff, I'm still alive, still doing what I'm doing, only better. As Matthew Berry says. Peace Out!
